Will Joel Friedman, Ph.D., Psychologist, A Prof. Corp.

Description:

My practice is about inhabiting this present moment, witnessing and "buying out" of the ego-mind's unworkable patterns, desensitizing root emotional charges, and gaining effective tools to thrive in the world. My vision for our work is for clients to unlearn their learned limitations and have an emotionally satisfying and completing experience with their challenges. Free the ego, and you are free. * Presence-centered therapy is a conscious attuning to the richness of this present moment (sometimes called mindfulness or wakefulness) along with witnessing, that is, observing what the mind is up to from outside of it. * Presence is all embracing, generously welcoming everything and everyone. Heartfelt gratitude and natural generosity beaming unconditional Love may well be the clearest indicators of aware Presence. * When you bring a purity of pro-life intention coupled with a whole-bodied attention, this naturally expresses itself in a rich, resonant and welcoming Presence, like a timeless infinite embrace of the entire world moment by moment. Eating Disorder Recovery

Joanna Poppink, MFT

Description:

Los Angeles private practice, specializing in eating disorder recovery. When pain and anxiety from living with an eating disorder becomes more powerful than the fear of change, a person suffering from anorexia or bulimia or binge eating calls for their first appointment. When a person with an eating disorder gains some recovery ground after a residential treatment experience and wants to sustain her work and grow beyond her limits, she calls for an appointment. My clients are relieved to find a place where they can be themselves and share their truth. They find a path to strength, confidence and healing through various methods we use together to build internal presence and stability. The kinds of difficulties potential clients experience may include: worry and anxiety over their recurrent eating disorder behavior or that of someone they love, general anxiety, troubled relationships, bad dreams, anger or frustration in their careers, frustrating issues with parents, increasing despair from loneliness coupled with a fear of being known by others. If this is you, you may be yearning for protection and rescue that never seems to materialize. You sense that there is more to life than you know but can’t find your way. We work together to both find and create your unique way to a better life. For more information, visit my website, "Eating Disorder Recovery," at www.eatingdisorderrecovery.com

Recovery Consultant and Psychological Services

Lynne Friedman-Gell, PhD.

Description:

My private practice is in Studio City, CA and I specialize in working with clients suffering form addiction, eating disorders, and relational issues. These disorders frequently co-occur with anxiety disorders and may be considered strategies of coping for individuals with overwhelming levels of anxiety. How do you cope with your anxiety? A certain degree of anxiety is normal –we all experience some anxiety during our lifetime. However, if your anxiety levels are so high that they interfere with the way you live your life than help is available! If you have developed ways to cope with your anxiety that have turned out to be self-harming whether it be drugs, alcohol, disordered eating, self-injury, or some other maladaptive behavior than help is available! Does anxiety keep you from moving forward in your life? Are you afraid to get close to others, afraid to trust others? Do you fear that you will be hurt or abandoned if you get close to someone? Is anxiety about getting pregnant interfering with your fertility? For these and many other reasons, I see clients in my private practice to help them recover from their various types of anxiety and worry. You may be overwhelmed by constant worry, experience panic attacks, and/or have obsessions and compulsions. Through individual therapy, clients can learn how to work through their fears. In my private practice, I work with clients to help them overcome their anxiety disorders and the disorders that may occur simultaneously such as drug and alcohol addiction and eating disorders so clients can experience their feelings without displacing or replacing these thoughts and feelings with maladaptive behaviors. I believe that therapy can help clients learn how to make healthy choices, resolve conflicts, heal past trauma, and create more satisfying relationships.
