Agoraphobia Resource Center (ARC), founded in 1977, is the first private practice in South Florida specializing in the treatment of all anxiety disorders including panic disorder, social phobia, fear of flying, performance anxiety, OCD, including hoarding and tricholltilomania, GAD, PTSD, etc.
As the director and supervisor of ARC, I have trained many younger colleagues in the treatment techniques necessary to manage and eventually overcome anxiety disorders. My treatment of choice is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), coupled with abdominal breating, deep muscle relaxation, guided imagery, hypnosis, EMDR, and Somatic Experiencing (SE).
Medication is frequently reccomended in combination with all the other psychotherapeautic techniques. My group practice, Miami Counseling and Resource Center (www.miamicounseling.com), of which ARC is one division, has 2 psychiatrists as part of its staff. In this way, patients can be seen by a psychologist and psychiatrist under the same roof, which makes for a great team and a highly cllaborative practice.
