As a psychotherapist, Dr. Donovan has been working with individuals experiencing anxiety, post traumatic stress, phobias and panic attacks for well over 30 years. She also teaches part time at California State University, East Bay. Her course in Abnormal Psychology includes an indepth study of anxiety and anxiety disorders from a multidimensional approach. Whether anxiety is a situational life event or part of a longer term pattern of thinking, feeling and reacting, it can be managed and decreased in intensity and frequency for most individuals seeking therapy.
Dr. Donovan has helped a wide variety of anxiety sufferers who have experienced traumatic accidents, wartime trauma, violent crimes, legal battles, earthquakes, floods, building collapse, physical illness, marital discord, parenting conflicts, separation and divorce, abandonment, betrayal, sexual trauma, family conflict, loss of loved ones, loss of job, financial devastation, step parenting, performance anxiety, communication problems, shyness, social anxiety, specific fears and phobias.
Treatment Modalities:
Dr. Donovan's approach to working with anxiety is a multidimensional collaborative approach including support therapy, behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, insight therapy, neurolinguistic programming, systematic desensitization, realtiy testing, hypnosis, symptom reduction/relief, and problem focused strategies.
Insurance Accepted:
Dr. Donovan does not take insurance; however, an arrangement can be made for a statement to be submitted to an insurance carrier for direct reimbursement back to the insured. Dr. Donovan does not accept any insurance reimbursement.
