Description As an experienced therapist and psychologist, I have treated many people with anxiety disorders. A careful assessment is made at the beginning of therapy and together we develop an individualized and specific plan which combines direction, compassion, and a belief in our ability to make positive changes. Sometimes therapy goals involve acceptance, sometimes they involve change, and we always strive for greater understanding of ourselves.
Each session, guided by specific therapy goals, is interactive, collaborative, and respectful. I have been a practicing psychotherapist for over 25 years and have seen the fields of psychology and mental health grow and improve in the ability to reduce suffering from anxiety and it's impact. There is much we can do to not only feel better but also to live better.
Treatment Modalities: I generally use a combination different approaches to the treatment of anxiety including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness based practice, stress and worry management, exposure and desensitization, problem-focused therapy as well as education about anxiety and support. My approach is generally short-term and the goal is always to improve not only how you feel, but also your understanding and functioning.
Insurance Accepted: I am not currently a preferred provider on most insurance panels, but many insurance companies have an out-of-network benefit that will reimburse you for my services. As a courtesy to my clients, I will bill insurance for you to be reimbursed. Payment for services is expected at the time of the session.
